The Recipe Project!

Each student in Healthy and Safe Foods and Healthy Living will create a personal recipe blog that will serve as a starter for life after high school.  During the time of this project, the student will prepare a number of these recipes at home, along with doing the Healthy Living students completing a demonstration in class.

Recipe Box:
At least 25 recipes that include:

  • Name of Recipe
  • Where the recipe came from (Magazine, Cookbook, Great-Aunt Millie, etc...)
  • Ingredients (must have at least 5)
  • Directions
  • Temperatures (if necessary)
  • Yield
Format:

  • Recipes can be in a box, a binder, or a booklet with plastic sleeves
  • Typed in Standard Recipe Format
  • Organized alphabetically or in categories

Due Date:

The Presentation Portion:  (Separate directions attached)

  • At least 10 recipes made at home and blogged about in Blogger.  Photo documentation will be included.  Dates are below.
The Demonstration (for Healthy Living students):
Each student from Healthy Living will pick a date from Mrs. Leininger's preapproved dates to demonstrate a recipe he or she made from his or her recipe book/box.  Mrs. Leininger will provide shelf stable staples such as: flour, sugar, salt, brown sugar, baking powder/soda, cornstarch, peanut butter, and oatmeal.  All other ingredients will need to be provided by the student.  You must already have blogged about the recipe you are demonstrating.

Presentation Portion on Blogger:

As part of the project, ten recipes from your project must be cooked at home with photo documentation.  Ten blogs will be made on your blog spot, describing your cooking experiences, one recipe at a time.

  • From the Apps icon o
  • On the top right side of your Drive, click on "More" at the bottom of the drop down menu, then click on "Blogger".
  • Set up your blog to reflect your personality.  Remember, Mrs. Leininger, along with others, will be viewing this blog, so keep it PG.
  • When finished, don't forget to "add" my blog to your reading list, along with your fellow classmates.


Blog Posts Should Include:

  • The date you cooked, the name of  the recipe, the ingredients and the instructions.
  • A somewhat creative post explaining the process in which you chose your recipe, cooked your recipe, or enjoyed your recipe.  (If you made more than one recipe at a time, you may blog about them together.  They will count as two separate blogs.)
  • At least five pictures demonstrating the cooking process, showing you cooking and the final product.
